Car Show Trips: Santa Maria, Ca 2010

5:00 a.m. Saturday morning: the pick ups packed, coffee in hand, kids loaded up, we're ready to go! our friend's 64' Impala leads the pack, 52' Chevy, 71' Dodge pick up, 72' Impala, and our 55' freshly chopped pick up pulling up the rear.
We meet up with my husband's brother Charlie and wife Julie in his 55' caddy "mabeline" and we're on the journey to Santa Maria. Someone may have lost a hub cap, our drive line came loose and had a few pee stops but we all made it. The show was great - packed with everything from rat rods, to air bagged beauties to $50k refabbed classics. The kids were overwhelmed with the cars, people, vendors, and just the fun of getting there. At the end of the day we all left. Few stops on the way home but nothing some bailing wire and duct tape couldn't fix! One tall mocha later we were back home sweet home.
And looking back at the day, the show wasn't the highlight of our time, it was the ride up and back - catching up with each other, listening to oldies, looking at the wineries, coast line and open fields. Will never forget it!
